Why Wording Is Only 10% of the Problem

Pasting copyright text into Word does not fix the 3 layout traps that break your front matter:

Trap 1: Verso Drift

The copyright page must sit on left-hand page iv (the back of the title page). Add or delete a dedication page in Word and your copyright page lands on a right-hand recto page, shifting every chapter start in the book.

Trap 2: Section Breaks

Suppressing page numbers on pages i–vi while restarting Chapter 1 at Arabic 1 requires 3 unlinked section breaks in Word. One stray backspace re-links your headers across the whole novel.

Trap 3: Print vs EPUB 3

Print seats the copyright block at the foot of page iv at 8.5pt. If you use blank carriage returns to push it down in Word, your exported EPUB breaks into empty pages on Kindle e-readers.

Cambric builds your entire front matter automatically:

In Cambric's structured binder on Windows or Mac, your Half Title, Title Page, Copyright Page, Dedication, Epigraph, and Table of Contents know their exact recto/verso rules. Page numbers and running headers are suppressed automatically on front matter, Chapter 1 starts cleanly at Page 1, and one project exports both a bottom-seated print PDF and a clean reflowable EPUB 3.
