Cambric is a desktop book formatting application made for indie authors. We believe your manuscripts and your data belong to you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't touch.
The desktop app
Cambric runs entirely on your machine. Your manuscripts, project files, and exported PDFs and EPUBs are stored locally—on your hard drive, in folders you control. There is no cloud sync, no remote storage, and no telemetry phoning home.
We do not collect any data from the desktop application. We cannot see your files, your writing, or how you use the app. Period.
Website analytics
This marketing website (cambric.pub) uses PostHog for basic analytics. PostHog collects:
- Pages you visit on our site
- Referrer information (how you found us)
- General device and browser information (screen size, browser type, operating system)
- Button and link clicks on the site (autocapture)
- Session replay of page layout, mouse movement, scrolling, and navigation on the marketing site
This data helps us understand which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck. We do not sell this data to anyone. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Session replay is limited to the production marketing domain. Form inputs are masked, IP addresses are anonymized, console logs and network payload capture are disabled, and recordings shorter than five seconds are discarded. The download and license-key page is excluded from recording. Replays are retained for 30 days.
The site also creates a random attribution identifier and stores first-touch and last-touch channel, referring source, landing page, language, and campaign parameters in first-party local storage. When you continue to checkout, those non-identity fields are attached to the Cambric checkout so a completed or refunded order can be attributed to the page and channel that produced it. Cambric does not send the purchaser's name or email address from the checkout webhook to PostHog.
Email updates
If you submit an email-update form, Cambric stores the normalized email address, signup time, page, language, and form source in a private Cloudflare KV namespace. The address is used only to send the Cambric updates you requested and to maintain subscription status. It is not sent to PostHog and is not sold or used for third-party advertising.
Cambric may synchronize that address to Buttondown, our email delivery provider. New website subscribers use email confirmation before activation. You may unsubscribe from any message or request deletion by emailing [email protected].
Cookies
PostHog and Cambric use first-party analytics storage to distinguish visitors, sessions, and acquisition touchpoints. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may also set technical cookies for security and performance. Cambric's optional Lemon Squeezy referral script is disabled by default; if an approved Cambric affiliate program is enabled, it may store referral information so a qualifying Cambric purchase can be credited to that referrer.
We do not use third-party advertising pixels, social-media trackers, or cookies to build advertising profiles.
Payment processing
When you purchase Cambric, your payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. The payment processor may collect information necessary to complete your transaction (name, email, billing address, card details) under their own privacy policy.
Hosting
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps, pages served) as part of operating the infrastructure. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
